Current Vacancies

  • We are looking for an experienced Livestock Manager to join our Animal Care Team at Cattle Country Farm Park. Every year we welcome 130,000 visitors to Cattle Country and our Animal Barn is a hugely popular attraction within the park - you will be working closely with our management team to give the very best experience to our visitors and care to the animals that we keep.

    Key responsibilities and accountabilities

    • Supported by our Animal Care Team, you will be oversee all aspects of husbandry for our calves, sheep, pigs, ponies, deer, goats and alpacas as well as our small animals and poultry

    • Feeding, cleaning out and caring for our animals, making sure that we comply with the highest standards of animal welfare

    • Responsible for all paperwork and record-keeping relating to our animals; this includes movement records, opening/closing checks, administering medicines, health checks and making sure that we are compliant with our Animal Activities Licence

    • Managing breeding programmes and birthing among our cattle, sheep, pigs, alpacas and goats, assisted by the wider team

    • Working with our Maintenance and Farm teams to make sure that all of our animals have appropriate housing, paddocks and enrichment

    • Administering medication and working with our veterinary team on a vaccination programme

    • Purchasing animal feed and supplies, and working on feeding plans

    • Organising a schedule of Animal Barn Activities throughout the year including animal petting, lambing, lamb bottle feeding, sheep racing, and interacting with our visitors to educate and entertain them

    • Training the wider team to carry out the daily tasks, host Animal Barn Activities, Educational Visits and our Tractor Rides – regularly reviewing the content to make sure that it is relevant to the time of year and audience

    • Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness and ensure that all areas of The Animal Barn are well-maintained and presented to a high standard throughout the year

    • Ensure that the Animal Barn Team comply with industry guidelines for livestock activities

    • Working with the Farm Park Manager to plan and risk assess Animal Barn activities

    • You will also provide ad hoc support to our farm team on our 500-head beef herd

    Job Requirements

    • You must have at least 5 years of hands-on experience of working with livestock in an agricultural environment

    • Agricultural qualification or Further Education in a relevant subject. Applicants with significantly more relevant experience would be considered without a formal qualification

    • Extremely high standards of presentation and care for our livestock at all times

    • An excellent communicator – with the wider team, the Animal Barn team and our visitors

    • Highly organised - planning ahead to make sure that we always have new animals and an exciting schedule of activities running in The Animal Barn for our visitors

    • Enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the breeds we keep

    • A friendly, calm and confident manner with excellent customer service skills

    • A flexible approach and able to work additional hours when required

    • Due to our rural location, having your own transport is essential. Previous experience of using farm machinery would be advantageous but full training will be provided to the right candidate

    This is a full-time role working 5 days per week and you will be required to work at least one day each weekend

    Salary dependant on experience. This role does not include accommodation

  • This is a great opportunity to gain experience within the wedding and events industry, providing front of house operational support at our events and working with our Senior Wedding Coordinator to deliver an excellent experience for our couples and guests. At The Barn at Berkeley, we are incredibly proud of our farm to fork menu so the successful candidate must have some previous front of house experience gained in a similar or relevant venue.

    Key responsibilities

    Assisting our Senior Wedding Coordinator to ensure the smooth running of our events including

    • Event planning, preparation and set up

    • Event day support: leading our Front of House teams to deliver the event as planned

    • Food service

    • Deputising for our Wedding Coordinator, providing occasional event coordination support, and liaising with couples

    • Cellar & bar management

    • Supervision and training of our front of house staff

    • Venue viewings and Open Days

    • Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness and ensure that all H&S, allergen and licencing requirements are met

    • Keyholder – responsible for opening & locking up the venue when needed

    Job requirements

    • This is a great opportunity to gain experience at a busy wedding venue, so we are looking for someone with a passion for hospitality and events

    • Experience of working in a Front of House team (events venue, restaurant or pub) leading from within the team and always striving to deliver great customer service

    • Highly organised with excellent communication skills

    • Flexible and able to adapt to a busy events schedule when needed

    • Smartly presented and professional at all times

    • Calm when working under pressure

    • First Aid, Allergen Training, Level 2 Food Hygiene qualifications are desirable but full training will be provided to the successful candidate

    This is a part-time operational role and therefore working hours will vary depending on the event schedule. You will typically work 16-24 hours / 2-3 days per week from Thursday to Saturday. Additional hours are available during busy periods.

  • We are recruiting experienced Team Leaders to support the smooth day-to-day running of Graze Café and two kiosk outlets within Cattle Country Farm Park.

    This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a diverse hospitality and leisure business, so it will suit someone with previous experience in a similar or relevant environment such as retail, leisure or a visitor attraction.

    Key areas of training and responsibilities

    • Working alongside our Duty Managers to ensure the smooth running of our catering outlets

    • Skilled in all front of house duties such as making coffee, taking orders and serving food and drink to our visitors

    • Ensuring that a high standard of customer service is delivered at all times

    • Be highly organised and able to use initiative to solve problems

    • Assist with training new starters and junior team members

    • Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness, setting an example to the wider team

    • Deal with customer questions & dietary requirements

    • Have a smart and professional appearance

    • Be flexible and able to work additional hours when required

    Full training will be provided to the successful candidates and the rate of pay will depend on age and experience.

    Hours: You must be available to work at least one day each weekend, and there are more shifts available during school holiday periods. Due to the location of Cattle Country, having your own car is preferable

  • We pride ourselves on our café Graze which serves freshly prepared, seasonal food to our visitors. Alongside Cattle Country is The Barn at Berkeley, our wedding and events venue. Our kitchen team are required to work across both kitchens as required.

    We are looking for experienced kitchen staff to join our team. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a diverse hospitality and leisure business, so it will suit someone with previous experience in a similar or relevant kitchen where quality food and customer service must always be delivered, especially on busy days.

    Duties will include

    • Preparation of all items on our menu

    • Leading the Graze kitchen team on days where our Executive Chef is at The Barn at Berkeley

    • Ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the GRAZE kitchen, providing an excellent experience for all of our visitors

    • Maintaining strict hygiene standards and ensure that all Food Safety requirements are met

    • Provide support for The Barn at Berkeley kitchen team when required

    Job Requirements

    • A broad range of relevant skills gained in a fast-paced kitchen environment

    • A passion for cooking and an interest in using fresh, local produce

    • Previous experience of leading a team during food service

    • A great communicator; liaising with our Front of House and kitchen staff

    • A friendly, calm and confident manner, especially when the café is busy

    • A flexible approach and able to work additional hours when required

    This is a part time role working 3 days a week with more shifts available during school holidays and busy event periods.

    The rate of pay will depend on experience, and full training will be given to the successful candidate.
