Train Incident

24.08.15 Train incident update.

Following the derailment of our miniature train 17th August a railway expert from the HSE visited us on Friday to carry out a very thorough investigation.

There was no obvious cause of the accident, so it’s likely that a number of minor factors came together at the same time to cause the end of the last carriage to lift slightly.

The inspector spent most of the day taking measurements and photographs and will send us a report in due course. Until then we will of course not be running the train. When the report does arrive we will study it carefully and decide on how to proceed.

We have all been deeply shocked by this incident and the stress that it caused. We are thankful that there were no serious injuries, but it is the worst thing to have happened here in 25 years. We will not re open the train unless we are confident that such an incident cannot ever happen again.

What people say about Cattle Country

“Fantastic day out for all the family.”

Nothing to dislike, all brilliant. Two play enormous indoor play-barns, so weatherproof and a huge amount of facilities to cater for every age group, from an indoor beach and ballpools for toddlers, to huge climbing net, zip wires and death slides for teenagers. Train and tractor rides, animals to feed, paddling pools, enormous play castle, trampolines face painting and crafts, etc, etc – amazing selection! Plenty of loos, cafes and ice cream kiosks – cannot recommend it highly enough!

"Fun day out"

We visited with our nearly 2 year old son who loved everything about the park. he loved the animals and the train ride and especially loved all the outdoor play areas which allowed him to explore while we watched from a distance. we took a picnic so cant comment on the food. but bought coffee and ice cream which were reasonably priced. staff were helpful. we watched a falconary show which was also very good.  Would recommend to any family.

"Grandchildren had a great day"

Arrived around 11.30……and still here at closing time! The two grandchildren would have stayed longer if it was at all possible. They went on everything and then did it all again…..and again. Everywhere was clean, tidy and litter free.
Plenty of room between attractions.  Very friendly and helpful staff.  Herd of deer.  Several other varieties of fowl and animals.  Good hand washing facilities after possible touching of animals.  Only other thing, apart from cafe and gift shop we paid for was the train ride.  Grandchildren slept on the way home…..bliss :-)
At first I thought this may have been a little overpriced, but by the end of the day…..cheap as chips :-)

Overall, we all had a great time and I am certain we will be returning.

"Staff were so friendly and welcoming"

Hi Cattle Country, I visited today for the 1st time with my little girl and have to say we thoroughly enjoyed it! She got to feed the lambs at lunchtime and loved the sandpit the most! We didn’t get to do everything as she peaked early with her energy & I ended up having to carry her alot (!!) lol so we have more to explore! All of your staff were so friendly and welcoming that I am looking forward to coming back again soon with her. Thanks for an enjoyable day out :-)
